How do you carry your unicycle when not riding?

I am sure you would rather be riding it, but. How do you carry your
unicycle when not riding? Mainly curious about ways to carry the thing
without using my hands, like strapped/hooked onto my back or
something.

Thanks in advance. Just visiting.

Without using hands, I’ve no idea…

When I’m carrying it; through not wanting it to touch the floor or something similar (people tend to object less if it doesn’t touch the floor…) I stick my fingers under the crown so I can hold it and at the same time stop the wheel spinning.

Can’t help you about the no-hands thing, sorry. I’m thinking about Sofa’s bike-carrier malarkey though…

Phil, just me

I know I just hold it by the fork.

I have been thinking of ways to carry my ultimate wheel around. I usually carry it by one pedal on my shoulder, so it kinda hangs down my back. I’ve been working on getting some straps hooked up to I can carry it like a backpack. It would look neat. A big, giant, blue and black spiral buckler.

I just put the frame on my sholder, grab the seat post in one hand and walk. After a long time its nice to chage sides up. But cranks get annoing when you walk it next to your side

I carry mine like a woodman carries his axe - over one shoulder, and steadying it with one hand. So that’s the crown of the forks on the shoulder, with the wheel making light contact with my shoulder to stop the wheel turning, and I hold the seat post.

If I have light kit to carry, I sometimes hook it on the saddle, which balances the uni on my shoulder enough for me to do quick tasks which require hands - like unlocking the car or picking up a drink.

I carry mine by wraping my fingers around the crank and fork. It balances out sort of like a suitcase and you don’t have to worry about the wheel spinning and petals hitting anything.

NOT RIDING??? i d’ont understand:D

ummm i either carry it by the crown (like above mentioned) or i put it in a bag i made for it, with a shoulder strap, so my hands are free, or i strap it to my back pack with some straps i sewed on. that’s about it.
hope that helps,

I also carry my uni, over the shoulder “like carrying an axe” or shovel or whatever…
Anyways, I do this quite often as I travel around town on my uni every day for virtually every type of outing. So I have padded the seat post/ top of the frame with Roach bike armour. (They are sort of like BMX type pads made to protect various bits of the bike. I get 'em out of the cheap bin down at the Roach store and they usually sell me two or three for a reasonable price.)
Also, this ‘dressing my uni’ is kind of fun and makes it look phat… but mainly it pads my shoulder when I’m carrying the uni over my shoulder.

i’m working on a way to carry unicycles on your back with a rope thing. It cann be uncomfortable, as the crank diggs into your back, but it works ok for longer trips. Sadly, it’s complex and pointless to describe, with a long annoying pully type system. If i get one that works well, i’ll post it, but untill then, either have it rolling in front of you, with your hand on the seat, or carry it by the fork or seatpost.

I sometimes draw stick figures and save them in black and white BMPs
on my web space.

(the first link, about inline skating)

After making the fifth wheel brake (it will help with the “third
wheel”), I might go with a unicycle type wheel or maybe something
which sort of resembles an aluminum scooter without the baseboard and
lighter/smaller. The unicycle type probably would have a lower seat
than usual (maybe right on the fork), or it might have a small wheel
with a normal length fork but probably only if the fork can be used
for shock absorbsion.

Actually, that is a possibility in my view. Rolling something in front
might risk being impailed on the thing (maybe you all might not
consider that a problem) but might be easier than rolling the thing at
my side or behind.

Thanks for the replies/information.

Sorry I didn’t show a drawing of that possible “third wheel” (I just
put one on my drawing board) to be clear.

I have in the past carried a 20" by attaching a holdall shoulder strap to the uni. One end on one pedal and the other on the front of the saddle. This was with a DM so there saddle attachment was easy (wire handle) but something could be improvised with a but of string through the handle (or something …)

Re: How do you carry your unicycle when not riding?

I don’t carry my unicycle by long distance, but I’ve made a shoulder strap
with an old car safety belt. The belt is made with a washable material and
it was easy to make the strap by sewing. I’ve made a double hook using old
stainless steel spokes. The double hook was sewed at the strap’s end. A pair
or hollow rivets was the hookes holes in the strap.

At one side, the looped end of the strap is tied above the saddle. At the
other side, I hook the looped end of the strap embracing rim + tire between
two nipples.

I carry the unicycle hanged over the shoulder at my side, not at my back.
