Goals for 2013

Goals for 2013

This is a good way to lock in these goals so:

–mount 36 easily (almost there)
–ride stomach-on-seat to reach Level 3
–finish marathon at NAUCC on 36
–more MUNI
–ride seat in front.
–backward in circle

and learn to jump up onto things!

Reach level 4 on IUF levels.
Crankflip
180 unispin
Jump up object 40cm high

Some other tricks in this difficulty range…

tripleflip
fifhtflip
treysidedubble
treydubble
fifhtside
fifhtdubble

900 unispin
crankflip 8set
handrails
quadflip/treytriple down from an edge

  1. Hop up 50 continuous steps for my 50th birthday on my nim24
  2. Climb Fargo St., Los Angeles by May 15th on my nim24

Hey timoteusmunk. I like your list and the way you have encorporated your birthday into your goals. I am turning 60 this year and have been trying to think in that direction, too.

Have you seen the Ride your age thread? That will get get you motivated.

It doesn’t specify the units, so if you’re feeling lazy on your birthday, you can ride 60 feet and call it good.

hicktriple

My goals are

  1. to understand what the above terms mean.
  2. 20 idles on my 29.
  3. Ride backwards 20 feet.
  4. 180 degree turn in a lane - as opposed to using the whole street.

It’s that time of year again…

That would be fun to see who achieved what in that thread!

If at first you dont succeed…

Sure thing. I originally posted my ambition to ride 150 miles in a day having done the ‘100’ the previous year. I failed and had to accept 100 miles again. I still have to write the report.

For 2014 I want to attempt a twice-my-age-in-a-day ride, that will give me 130 miles.

  • consistent 180 unispins, stlll not 50%
  • wheel walk to ride
  • jump on top of a picnic table
  • get my 7 year old to ride

I made decent progress on these but got distracted with other goals in June. For 2014 my goals are:

  • win a gold medal at Unicon
  • improve my rolling hops so I can execute them on trails and jumps
  • ride trails that are too steep or rocky for me now and find new ones
  • build and ride a unicycle with 76 gear inches (3.8x gear on 20" wheel)
  • go on a long ride on my 36" freewheel unicycle at a decent average speed

Why stop at 76 when you can go to 136.8?

I had a pretty good unicycling year. No back problems; no knee problems; rode most days and was happy

I could use the same list every year. But this time I have some more specific goals:

  • Learn to coast
  • Learn sideways wheel walking
  • Jump picnic table height
  • Improve my 360 unispins and land them seat in.
  • Travel. Go to at least 2 unicycling events (Moab for sure. Maybe Unicon).
  • Relax and have fun.

Custom dropouts and easier starts.

I checked other posts to see if they were relevant but can only link your comment to my earlier post. The only thing that made sense to me is the question mark at the end. So that’s why I am replying.

I tried using my calculator on your figures but couldn’t understand any of it. I expect there is a sense of humour that I cant fully grasp

I am dyslexic, please explain

I am not one of the parties involved, but my reading is that it referred to one of waaalrus’ enumerated goals. Multiply wheel diameter by gear ratio.

I’m not, and I don’t understand it either

This is it. 3.8 x 20" = 76 gear inches but 3.8 x 36" = 136.8 gear inches. Kiefer is jokingly urging me to make a ridiculously highly geared big wheel while a ridiculously highly geared 20" is already sufficiently impractical.
