frame sqeezing

anyone got an idea of how to squeeze a my Profile fork to fit a 3.0 Gazz?i need about a half inch on both sides.

is there a way to do this right the first time?it sure would be nice to sqeeze the inside flat but keep the outside round.

there has to be a way,my imagination is’nt working i guess.

ideas?

Just add water.

My idea, your frame (I’m taking the Mad out of Scientist). Make the receptical a bit larger than the frame diameter- will give the metal some where to go…

looks effective

Yep, that’s how I did my XLW, but I just had the outside of the frame against the flat wood, and I placed the head of a ball-peen hammer between the inside of the frame and the vise. I didn’t have much clearance after the first time a few weeks ago. The tire would rub a little when hill climbing. I crushed it in a bunch more last weekend and now I have lots of clearance, but I almost wrecked the frame. If you crushe it a lot, it will tend to push the fork ends closer together. I didn’t get them spread out strait the first time, so they were bent over to one side. I had to keep pulling both legs over to one side untill they were aligned right. I’ve got it back together, and have been riding it this week, and it’s working out great. I just learned to idle. cheers, Joe in Iowa

hey thanks,i will bair that in mind.you have givin me great insite to put somthing in the drop outs before sqeezing the fork

im gonna sqeez that thing you just watch

Re: frame sqeezing

Ive done it twice now, and it was very effective. Looked neat too, sxcept on
the insides where you cant see anyway.

Basically, I hit it with a pneumatic reaction rivet gun in the spots I
needed more clearance. I backed it up with a sandbag so the outside wouldnt
get scratched. You should be able to get someone to do it for you at your
local sheetmetal fabricators, or a smash repairers if theyre good. Ive got
some pictures up at:

Pics arent very good, but if you need me too, I can get some better photos
next week.

well i did it.the 3.0 gazz has plenty of room.

its not as pretty as i thought it would turn out but the frame did’nt crack and i guess thats what counts.
