Frame construction

I’m wondering if you could build a frame with an arc welder? If not how are they put together? Thanks.

Do you mean a stick welder? Those can be used for frame making, although it’s rare. Stick welding is not usually precise and low-amperage enough to weld the thin wall tubing one normally finds on frames, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be done. If you mean TIG welding, that’s how the wilder and aletis frames are made. I intend to TIG weld my titanium frame. MIG welding can be used, but TIG is superior, and MIG isn’t really very good for titanium or aluminum. Steve Howard frames don’t even bother with weldign or brazing, he just bolts things together.

The Hunter frames are brazed, and the KHs are TIg welded, as far as I know. I hope this answers your question.
