Feeling a bit silly

I was riding around on my new toy yesterday through a random foresty bit near my house. I’d just gone down a quite steep but short ramp, over an earth mound and dropped off a log across the path when I just started chortling… here I was doing all sorts of bumps and stuff on a contraption with one wheel! Who’s crazy idea was that? Who first decided “I know, I’ll ride this totally inefficient wheeled device down a really bumpy track!”?

It was weird. Has anyone else had moments of silliness such as this? It was very brief - I needed to go over another log - but it was a definite feeling that mountain unicycling is, really, quite a silly thing to do…

Ah well.

(I’m currently at work… although apparently my digital camera arrived this morning, so I really want to go home and play with it… aaargh!)

Phil, just me

Phil you need to pull yourself together man your losing it; one might say your getting obsessed. Welcome to the club

“Getting obsessed”… too late for that, I’m afraid! My housemates think I’m mad…

Nothing to do with MUni, but I remember early on in my riding experience, when
I hadn’t yet been out on the street very many times. I was wobbling along past
a big storefront window, and I caught sight of my reflection (the first time
I’d ever actually seen myself riding a unicycle), and was struck by how utterly
ridiculous I looked. I had to cling to a parking-meter for a moment, giggling
foolishly, and from then on I was OK.

Unicycling in general is a silly thing to do. Most of the really enjoyable
things in life are.
