Favorite Unicycle

I would obviously go for my 29" Muni. My first unicycle and trusty old friend since 2008.

I can go wherever I want, and do whatever I want. Which I did (on 150mm cranks) for over 10 years before someone gave me his old 24" Torker. Even in winter. Last year I got both Magura brakes and studded tyre for this baby.

I have both 110/130mm and 125/150mm cranks for it and even a compatible handlebar (although I need to stiffen it):

So I can transform this uni into a Muni, all-arounder, road machine or a winter commuter. I can even learn some tricks on it and it is easier to stash away than a 36er. And it fits in your trunk.

In my student dorm, I always had this stored in the corner behind my door, and gave it a shower first after a proper Muni trip.

I will probably get some VCX+ 100/125/150 and a KH handlebar for it to make reconfiguration and versatility much less work. I must have ridden this machine at least 5000 km since I got it.

IIf you are riding a night fox considering the wheel alone measures 36 inches, even with the seat down the whole way it has to be over 40 inches from the ground to the center of the saddle. My 29er where I have my seat post set measures 40 inches from the floor to the center of my saddle. That being said my 26er or my 24 would be even less. As a kid I rode around quite happily on a 24 inch unicycle covering lots of ground. A 24 muni sounds like a good choice for you.

Could you do me a favour? I know I‘m asking a lot, and you‘ve been riding like this for well over a decade, so I perfectly understand if you feel a bit offended by my request, and I assure you that this is not my intention at all, ‘cause you know, I‘m trying (and I think, mostly succeeding as well) to be a nice guy, and I really don‘t want to start a fight with a member of this community that I really respect, but
could you peel those L and R stickers at the bottom of the frame off, please? :innocent: Such stickers hurt my eyes everytime I see them on pedals, cranks, or in this case a frame. I‘m sure by now yours are nothing more than white dots, but they still spoil that nice blue frame.
Thank you for taking the time and kindly consider my bold request. :folded_hands:

my favorite uni: a 24 muni, with 140 cranks and Gazz.
second one: a 26"/140 Triton fatty.
I have also a 27.5 muni, a Coker and a 32" but I tend to be afraid of them.
The four 20" I have I use for teaching Uni-ing.

Look at the inseam lengths on unicycle.com (USA), I don’t know how the other country webs work.

I get it. Especially on a frame.

@PedalSprell, I think you might need a new tire, don’t really see how you could to Muni on that. Looks like a road tire.

It is currently set up as a road machine. I have a knobby Muni tyre and a studded winter tyre in the basement. I will reconfigure it to a Muni again soon.

@Wheelou these stickers are part of the unicycle now! They have been there for 17 years, and endured whatever I and my uni has endured. They look kinda cool! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I understand all about minimum inseams but your saying your already riding a 36er.

I’m guilty of it too :face_with_hand_over_mouth: Although only on a unicycle I’ve had since a couple years ago. It’s kinda impressive that they’ve been on @PedalSprell’s unicycle since 2008 though
I vote for the “No Peel” party on this one

If the seat is next to the wheel, it’s about 18" to the middle of the wheel, and then a little more for the cranks. Why wouldn’t the Nightfox fit me?

Yeah, I feared that you felt that way about them. :face_exhaling: They‘re kinda like the screws in Frankenstein‘s monster. They shouldn‘t be there, but they always have been, and one gets accustomed to them. Even to the point that one feels something‘s missing when those piĂ©ces de rĂ©sistance are gone. It‘s actually comparable to the Stockholm syndrome. That‘s not good, you know

Well, no. They don‘t. But you could touch them up with a blue sharpie. That would really help

with their look

with your Stockholm syndrome

with my hurting eyes

ROTFL!
You know, if you happen to visit Switzerland I could engrave your frame
 No need for lousy stickers.

What is that yellow thing? :face_with_monocle:

This is a 3D printed plastic spoke key! It works equally well as my 3D printed 8 mm Allen key, and pedal wrench :wrench: in plastic.

70 cm (27.5") minimum inseam according to UDC for a Nightfox. A standard 26" unicycle is the same minimum inseam according to UDC, so your math of:

is simply wrong.

Shorter cranks will further reduce the required length
