Eurocycle 2003 - a fun time?

Well I was eyeing up the idea of going to the European uni convention in August seeing as I will be over in the across the pond at that time and given that I won’t be able to make it to the Nationals.

So I just wondered if someone here had gone to a Eurocycle convention before and whether they figured it was a lot of fun. It is only for three days and I am not sure if there is camping available. Can’t tell if there would be MUni rides or if team sports and freestyle predominate.

What’s it like and is it worth it to go?

I very nearly made it to EuroCycle 2001 in Plymouth. I pre-registered
and everything. Alas, I ended up moving house that weekend. I’m sure
they all had a horrible time and I had much more fun carrying furniture
and boxes.

I’m still bitter. Please don’t mention EuroCycle again. Thank you.

Mark.

The content of Eurocycle does vary a bit from year to year but its usually
games based.

Hockey - definately
Basketball - usually
Racing - sometimes
Muni - sometimes
Freestyle - can’t remember any

Its always fun though

Eurocycle has evolved from beginnings in the unicycle hockey
scene. For this reason, hockey is the one thing that seems
to be pretty constant year to year. Other things happen
depending on the whims or preferences on the organisers. I’ve
only been to 3 Eurocycles and have seen everything from
100m racing to unicycle orienteering, ice-cream rides and
even goat milking.

Muni hasn’t been a big thing in Germany (where Eurocycle is
this year) but the first German Muni Weekend is about to happen
so obviously it is becoming more important.

There is often camping, or at least space for sleeping on
gym/classroom floors - I don’t know about this year yet.
Check the web-site and email the organisers if you want
clarification of any details.

It is often quite a chilled-out event with plenty of socialising.
Maybe see you there?

Thanks for mentioning Eurocycle 2003. I’ve never been to a convention
but from their website it looks like a great weekend. I consider
going, it should be just a 2.5 hour drive from where I live.
