Dumb and dumber...

I often mix eating and unicycling, it seemed like a good idea. Your hands after
all are free and it saves lots of time eating “on the roll”. I discovered there
is a downside however.

On Saturday I grabbed some KFC to go. Mistake one was zooming along at high
speed on an unfamiliar unicycle, mistake two was riding in the wet and dark
through a mass of pedestrians, mistake three was having KFC in both hands and
searching for a chip instead of noticing the oncoming curb and car. CRUNCH.
Peter goes flying asphalt surfing for five metres in front of an oncoming car.

I lost my chips, my pride, a pair of pants, a ring and a lot of skin. At least
no one laughed, the onlookers were too worried I’d broken something.

Can anyone else cheer me up by relating something they’ve done that’s dumber?

I thought it was dumb when I backed over my Coker with my car. Fortunately, only
the seat and seat post was ruined. -Mark

OW! I think I saw something like that in the movie Dawn of the Dead (sans
unicycle)…

Riding backwards in the garage, with out sweeping up first. Hit a piece of
dog food. Talk about a crack on the ol noggin. Oh yea no helmet. Do I get the
dumb award?

Re: Dumb and dumber…

Forgot to tuck shoe laces in before warming up for 100m at Unicon X. Shoelace
wraps up in crank. Do face plant at maximum speed (fortunately it was only my
maximum speed) in street in front of stadium. Shoelace attached to uni prevents
me form rolling out of fall. Road rash (Chinese road rash, yuck!!!) and banged
up shoulder. Nothing broken, but I am still sore. Fortunately I was wearing
wrist guards since I had broken wrist in parade in April.

Oh, yeah, I also broke my wrist riding (or rather falling) in a parsade in
April, very embarrassing.

Re: Dumb and dumber…

I was just doing a standard free mount one day and my left foot landed askew
on the pedal. I had been practicing tricks for about an hour and felt pretty
confident so I immediately lifted my foot off the pedal to re-position it.
Unfortunately I wasn’t really balanced yet and the pedal wasn’t in a neutral
position so when I lifted my foot I immediately started to go down. I tried
to get my foot back on the pedal but those “John Foss K-Mart Turf Shoes” got
hung up on the edge of the pedal and I got all messed up and fell backwards
off the uni.

I landed on my butt with my legs askew and the uni at my side. When I lifted my
head to look around I found that my left shoe was off my foot and laying about
four feet away from me. It looked so ridiculous that I started to laugh. Then I
looked around to see if anyone had witnessed
it. Thankfully, no one had.

I once was riding backwards on sidewalk & didn’t notice there was a bike behind
me. Ended up flipping over it.

Re: Dumb and dumber…

My tale is on a par with Joe’s, I suppose. But I haven’t prepared my speech for
the dumb award

A brief experiment with riding + juggling on a path littered with wood chip
pieces which had spilled out from the adjacent garden bed (readers of this ng
may recall my more detailed post a few weeks ago).

Result: 2 broken forearm bones requiring surgery and the addition of metal
bits ‘n’ pieces! I still have many, many weeks before I can prepare to
return to work.

Oh, boy – how one’s life takes a different path in an instant!
