Does anyone know if there is a way to download music from myspace players? There are a couple artists who have a myspace and have music on it that isn’t available anywhere else, this being an example. I really want to be able to listen to their music at other times, but since I can’t get their music in stores or online, and I can’t even find them in p2p systems, this is pretty much impossible.
So is there a way to download it, similar to the way you can download videos from youtube and the like?
Myspace seems to be a really really good source for new music from across the globe but it also makes it difficult to get ahold of the artists music when all they have is the music on their page.
If the music is not copyrighted you could always use a program to record the song as it plays then save it as an mp3. You have to make sure your wave volume is up, mic is muted, and don’t click or have msn messenger beep while you’re recording…
(if it is copyrighted it would be against the law and you didn’t hear it from me :P)
The songs are only downloadable if the artists wants them to be downloadable. If they don’t want them downloaded they have a reason and you need to respect that. If you can’t find their music anywhere try sending them a message and asking. The band themselves can proably help you find their own music.
I use a program called Audacity from www.sourceforge.net
Search for Audacity. you will need to google and download an MP3 encoder but Audacity will give you what to look for.

There was mention on Slashdot about a program that can rip the music from Myspace. But the program is currently reported as broken. So no go there.
Seems the best option is to use a program that records what is played on the sound card. There are many options there for such programs.
As for myspace, the quality of the streamed music isn’t anything that I would want to keep. Low bitrate. I wouldn’t go through the trouble to rip one of the streaming songs there unless there was no other way to get that particular song.
Damn thats too bad that it doesn’t work. I came pretty close to figuring out the download links for the songs that they didn’t display the name of but unfortunatly they toss on a series of random digits at the end of the url and I couldn’t figure out how they generated the digits.
should i keep using it? I already have aabout 140 posts.
