Yesterday (Friday) a small group of unicyclists took part in Brisbane’s =
critical mass.

The ride takes lots of bicyclists (about 60) through the city streets in = a
peaceful protest about using bikes as an efficient form of transport, = the lack
of bike lanes and other cycling related issues.

I can’t say how far we went as my speedo is broken. Our average speed = was
about 16 km/h. Three of us were on 28" uni’s and kept up with the = group
comfortably. One poor soul rode on a 24" and did a lot of = pedalling.

We all had fun and I now need an air cushion seat. Ouch.

Wayne.

Yeeh I’m not the only one… I really enjoy doing critical mass on my muni. My
biggest problem was going slow enough, as here in Reading UK we have some
walkers with us as well to swell the numbers and help hand out flyers explaining
what we are doing. My biggest regret is that I can’t take part every month as
I’m often still at work at the appointed time. I think critical mass is a good
thing for unicyclists to get involed with as are local cycling campains, I’d
rather uni on a cycle path or lane than either the road or pavement (sidewalk)
so we need more facillities for cycling in our cities. sarah

On’ya mate, If I wasn’t stuck here in Dallas Texas, I’d be riding there too
(Toowoomba originally). Dallasites are flat out coping with bicyclists on their
roads let alone unicyclists (too many pick-ups you know!!) Still, when I get my
Muni, I’ll be out racing in the local singletrack trails (yes, very flat
courses) - might even do the local single-speed events for MTB’s… Hope to see
you on 'Cootha pretty soon…
