Confused about an answer I got about outspins

I asked Mr. Brill this question,

“I have a question, in your video about 180 unispins you said that for outspins I should be flipping the uni away from my front foot. You said that it helps with flips in the future Im guessing hickflips, is it really necessary or could I do my outspins towards my front foot.”

And he answered with this,

“Not completely necessary. I actually don’t recommend flipping away from the front foot if you’re doing regular seat out hickflips. Just for outflips, or hickflips starting from seat in.”

I’m just a little confused about something he said. Could someone explain why you’re supposed to spin away from your front foot when doing an outspin, but towards your front foot when doing seat-in-front tricks?

I’m asking because I want to learn outspin, but I’m not sure which direction I should spin. I want to learn it the right way from the start—something that’ll be helpful in the long run.

I’m open to learning new things, and I definitely care about what feels comfortable when doing tricks. But I also don’t want to learn a direction that might make future tricks harder.
