comfortable seats

Hi,

Over the weekend a friend made a new, larger seat cover for my miyata seat out
of synthetic leather. It’s the same as the old one except about 3cm taller
around the sides. This allows for way more padding than the old seat cover-
about 2.5-3 cm of good quality closed-cell foam, plus a partially inflated
innertube.

Combined with a seatpost shock, it’s unbelievably comfortable compared to before
(even compared to an air-seat with a normal Miyata seatcover). I wish I’d done
this ages ago!

On another note, a new mountain biking video just came out, featuring some of
the most extreme riding imaginable, mostly in BC but also California and Europe.
Its called “Cranked II” and is the best mtn biking video I’ve seen. It’s fairly
big budget so it should be available at most North America Bike shops and maybe
Europe as well. If you see it, rent it, if only for inspiration and ideas!

Cheers,

Kris.

Soundes great, I want one! Can you get this guy to make a whole bunch of them?
There should definitely be a market for a good, comfortable seat!

RE: comfortable seats

I’ll ask him. Especially with the “Canadian Peso” in the state that it is, it
wouldn’t cost much.

Re: comfortable seats

Sounds like a great idea. I’d love to get one. And it could be any color other
than the normal green? I hate that color. A simpler approach is to disassemble
the seat and stuff in an extra layer of foam - Telfords have this as an option.
But your idea sounds even better. Bring some to NUC!

i’m interested… i used to get good covers made and i always had them made with
a little extra on the sides for additional padding. i believe my supplier has
decided to give UP the uni seat cover making business. so, i need another
source. let us know how it holds UP over time…

until the future, dustin kelm
