Coker Hub

I put a widened hub in my new Coker, in hopes of better wheel durability. I put
some pics up at www.uidaho.edu/~reed8990/c

Looks cool. I have a broken hub on one of my Cokers, so that sounds like a
possibility for me to try. What kind of modifications did you do to the frame to
accommodate the wider hub?

Re: Coker Hub

I think the guy I bought my Coker from did much the same thing. Works great.

Someone said something about a quickrelease for a unicycle seat. Do those work
well? I’d love one because I’m always lowering the seat for folks to try. The
guy in the bike shop (a unicycle rider himself) said it couldn’t be done because
it wouldn’t be strong enough.

!?

But he can do it for bikes…!

Re: Coker Hub

Quick release works great on a unicycle. Of course you need a decent one, but
that’s true on bikes too. We also are always trading unicycles around - much
harder without quick release. For example, the Salsa Flip-Lock that comes
standard on a Telford is a great piece of hardware…but I think the cost is
$25-$30 or so. We use approx $10 ones, available annodized in various colors on
normal unicycles.

The handle gets most of its use when it’s on my MUni. I only have one seat
& seatpost, so I just undo the quick release and swap it between the Coker
and the MUni

The lazy man’s way is to place one fork leg against the ground, put your foot on
it, grab ahold of the other one and pull.

Mine is actually a United 24" frame, with 7 inches of 1" tubing inserted on each
side right below the fork crown. I just angled the legs outward so they’d hit
the bearings at the bottom.
