I posted a video on www.jugglethis.net of the unicycle gladiators game from BJC 2006 this last weekend. You will need broadband as it is 40 Meg but it is very entertaining, especially the two lads scrapping part way through.
Called something like : BJC LukesvZyllan Unigladiators.
and it lives in the non- juggling section. Hope you like it. Some of you may well be starring in it.

Yes, I recognised you from a pic in the BUC pics forum. Well ridden indeed. The other Luke seems to have pulled Zyllan down on top of him, rather than letting go as he fell. That was a bit sad as you versus Zyllan would have been a fabulous finale. The two of you looked very equally matched in the earlier skirmish.
Zyllan won both unicycle gladiators rounds in BJC Perth 2005, so is a worthy competitor too.

Isn’t that you falling off 17 seconds into the movie after taking the little

u wud be right there, but they hadnt sed battle yet so i assumed we hadnt started so i got back on n told the kid to too

I would like to have had more of a battle with Zyl too he was good when we had a little battle in the middle
I have won quite alot of gladiators at South West Uni Meet I’m sure I will get a nasty shock when i play it at unicon this summer if there is gladiators at unicon
also i was not taking the little kid out as i remember he tried takin me out n i said we aint started yet
oh well see it as you see it hopefully i will go to nottingham and we can have a rematch

It’s a .mov file: quicktime is one application that will run it. It

Get to watch it, it is good. The bell has definitely gone by the 9
seconds mark because everyone suddenly speeds up: Roger rockets off. 2
other people are already down before you , and those two then leave the
battlefield, so I reckon IMHO you were down too. However we would have
missed the tussle you had with Zyl, so it was well worth you getting back
on.
I can only hope to be there for your next meeting. You have obviously been
doing well down South. And I don’t think I have seen Zyl really lose in
more than two years, except when 5 guys ganged up on him all at once after
he won the first three rounds. And I heard a rumour that in those two years
the only actual riding he has done has been during convention gladiator
contests. ( Is that true Zyl? ) So you may need to up your game a bit,
as in the vid Zyl looks to be far more determined to take riders out than
you do.

PS I personally didn’t stay riding long enough to even get into the
footage. I didn’t really expect to, I was way out of my league.

I think that there was a bit of confusion in the gladiators. Just before
the footage starts, Void (in charge of the games) said something along
the lines of “Ok everyone, start riding” - all very casual though. As
far as I was concerned, it was making sure everybody was riding rather
than having started fighting. You can see - everyone is just riding
around nicely. I’m idling on the left (green t-shirt). I certainly
wouldn’t be idling if I thought the game had started - bad idea! The
reason that I suddenly shoot off to the right is because the guy with
the black hat on came charging towards me pushing people off. Once
somebody had started, you kind of have to just get on with it.
Talking to people afterwards, I wasn’t the only one that was suprised to
find some vicious bugger riding towards them/pulling them off when they
didn’t even think the game had started. It was just a slight
miscommunication on when things had started. Lucas should definitely
been out though…

im sorry i got back on but i genuinly thought the game hadnt started like roger light said there was confusion n i had just been dissapointed that i didnt win the long jump because i didnt get a second chance to beat mikes which he knows i could of lol but he could of also gone alot further so we shall close that tin of beans.

Ah that was you was it. Well done, Roger is supposedly very difficult to dislodge. I started the camera more or less when Steve said “start riding” and was a little surprised that some had a few seconds “rest” before becoming, to steal your words Roger, “vicious buggers”.
All except the girl dressed as a fairy. I couldn’t call her names like that.
It’s quite a contact sport, and I deny all knowledge of being able to ride a unicycle, anywhere within two hundred yards of gladiators.

That girl is Lucas’ sister. She has one atleast one of the gladiators from SWUM, she is the vicious one as I remember.

Well I confess that it was more a case of me being dislodged by him and
then cunningly placing my uni under his wheel. It all works out the same

The Danes play it quite a bit as I recall and tend to be a bit awkward to knock off…
