BRR Ride

Hey fellow riders of the wheel. I ventured into the cold Iowa weather
yesterday for the BRR Ride. It’s a 23 mile ride from Perry to Rippy and
back. This was my first year riding it on a unicycle. I received a lot
of positive comments and no negative ones. I felt like I was king for a
day, or maybe jester anyway. I rode my Semcycle XLW with 24x2.6 Gazz
tire, which is not the ideal road machine, but it’s my only unicycle.
Oh, and I even got my picture in today’s Des Moines Register. Cheers,
Joe in Iowa

Joe,
great you enjoyed your ride. Any chance to post the picture (Des Moines Register)? I searched
http://www.dmregister.com/
(search term “unicycle”) but did not find the article on their website.
Have fun,
Fred

Here’s the pic I cut out of the paper as I posted it on the
single-speed mountain bike forum. I tried scanning it, but the file was
pretty big, so I just set the camera on macro and snapped away.

cheers, Joe

<OFF-TOPIC>
Most if not all scanners can also be set to scan at a lower resolution
(e.g. 150 dpi instead of 300 dpi) prior to making the actual scan.
Alternatively, you can scan at a high or default resolution and then
resample the picture to a lower resolution. This can be done using
many graphics programs such as Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro. If you
don’t have such software, Microsoft Photo Editor (part of Win98 or
Office 1997) can do Resize which is for most purposes inferior to
Resample (more “jagging”), but often acceptable. Another way of
reducing filesize is to set “heavier” jpg compression. (Both ways can
be used in combination.)

Hope this helps,
Klaas Bil
