filing is the easy part. getting the holes lined up and straight like their supposed to be is the hard part, for me anyway.
Have there been a lot of people snapping their seats? I snapped mine the other day. It’s quite annoyinf, but mine was only a cheap one so it’s not so bad. Which are the best seats for strength that don’t cost a fortune or have to be upgraded to cf?

and there areent any seats that are stronger than anyof the others…
I just ordered a crf base so just go ahead and do it…
it will pay off in the long run…

Are the cf bases really that strong in comparison to the plastic ones? They cost more than the actual seats themselves! It’s like your buying two seats but only getting one.
Would it be worth bying one, waiting till it snaps, then buying another? Then you’d have spare covers, bumpers and foam if you damaged any of them.
It wont ever break if you use it correctly.
And i say get it.
Therefore I must do it!

A good number of people have broken carbon fiber bases. It just depends how hard you ride it.

I’ll try to take a pic later and show you it, although I have drilled a few holes and put some metal plates on just so that I can keep on riding until I buy a new one.
It was a myata copy seat that came on a £30 uni. I thought it looked like a pretty robust seat, but evidently I proved otherwise!
UnicycleJuggler, its likely that a Kh seat will be stronger than the one you had, what kind of riding do you do and what were you doing when it broke?
I’m quite new to unicycling but I’m mainly doing trials, street and unicycle hockey. I was just hopping up and down some stairs when it snapped.
You say a good number of people have broken CF bases and then you show us one from Ryan Atkins. I’d say its a relatively small minority who ever break CF.
In that pic, it doesnt look like he has any rubber or cushion between the metal post and CF base. That could be part of the reason it broke. Im not saying it wouldnt have broken if he had used some sort of cushioning, might have helped tho.
No its not even like you are buying one. You are just getting the base for that price, you still need handle, bumper, foam, hardware and cover.
If your previous seat had a removable cover, you would only have to buy a couple pieces of hardware and you are good to go. If not you will need the cover plus hardware.
Just because you can get two saddles for the price of a CF base, doesn’t mean anything. If all you broke was your base, you can invest a bit of money into some CF without having to buy all the other parts along with it.
I know few break them compared to the number of people who have them, but I have definitely heard of multiple bases breaking so its not correct to say “It wont ever break if you use it correctly.” I linked to Ryan’s because it was the only one I found pictures of.
I probably shouldn’t have worded it that way because most people don’t break them but it’s not like it has never happened before.

The base shown in the pic didnt have the ruber pad between the base and the post so it wasnt st up the way illistrtated…
Even with the rubber, im sure it would of still broke.
Ive seen bases, even with rubber, that have the same thing happen, and have started to crack, dent, and start to fracture by the post.
can we see how the rubber is on yours either Jerrick or Brian???
