brazing a unicycle?

hey,

i’m new to unicycles. i’d like to braze up a unicycle “frame”. not sure if thats what its called. anyway, where does one find the drop outs? it looks like a two piece clamp that holds the hub. who can i order the drop outs from?

thanks.

getting my terms down

so it is called a frame and i’m looking for a main cap bearing housing assembly. not just the bottom but the whole enchilada. the part of the bearing housing that is welded/brazed the frame.

i should add i have some experience brazing bicycle frames and forks.

You can just buy 2 sets of steel ones from UDC.

you can get basic ones from unicycle.com they have bearing caps on there somewhere, if you are looking for better ones I think dirtuni.com will sell them.

Finally you could bug Surly for some, they have the best looking bearing caps around but I dont believe they are for sale alone without a frame. Doesnt hurt to ask though…

thanks but…

i’m looking for the piece that gets welded/brazed to the frame as well. not just the loose replaceable parts. the parts in unicycle.com look like stamped galvanized steel. that cant be what reputable builders are using. way too cheesy. my guess is 4130 cromo of some kind. it could be just a slice of 4130 tubing with pinch bolts brazed on.

the suly setup looks very sweet.

Thats essentially what the holders are on the Kris holms, expet with a lip on the side.

How about a pair of quick-release bearing holders;

send me a PM.

now we’re getting somewhere

i’ll pm you.
