Box Splits on 2 Chairs

I decided to try just splits on 2 chairs one night after someone on Yahoo chat was doing it on thier webcam and thought id like to give it ago so this evening I went outside and did Splits but thought it was a little easy so I tried box splits and to my astonishment I could do them

Anyone else do splits or stretch?

Trev

Well the expression of your cat’s face tells enough…
It looks like s/he thinks “OMG he’s gonne hurt himself again”.

But to answer your question. I used to do stretching before and after sleeping. Somewhere I stopped doing that. But my muscles are extreme fast to train.

Oh yeh a stretching website for pretty much everyone i think, Theres a couple things i cant even do lol

Wow. :astonished:

That’s really cool. Can you learn how to do the splits, or do you just have to be flexible already?

you know there is an easier way to mow your lawn… but if your really that hungery for greens…

Andrew

He’s not mowing his lawn, you moron…
He’s looking for his contact lens!

God no ive been stretching for about a year and a half now, The front splits only take about 4 months to get though.

Why would I be looking for my contacts when im wearing my glass’s?

Trev

Obviously cuz you lost your contacts.

David

I have the tune from The Dambusters going through my head …

Phil

Thats cool Trev! I was wondering what you were doing in your MSN pic last night… now I know!

Thanks for those stretches. I’ll start them tonight - I promise, and I’ll do them every night before I go to bed

I will learn! :stuck_out_tongue:

Joe,

ps, like leo said, the cats face says it all!

Good Good, ill be moving up North after college most likly so ill come and see you to do some Unicycling Joe. Oh and the backflip.

Trev

Yep, it’s pretty hard to look for your contact when you don’t have your glasses on. One morning I had put my one contact in ( having only had contacts for less then a week, I dropped them a few times ) and of course I lose the second one… for the second time. Last time Mom found it, but even she couldn’t this time. I looked ( had to take the one contact out and put my glasses on), but couldn’t find it, and had to go to work. After work I looked and found it right aways on the carpet, nice and dried out. They were just loaners and hopefully I didn’t damage that ont, or i’m paying for it.

Moral of the story, put a towel under you when putting contacts in, and don’t say things that remind me of storys, or i’ll probably tell it…

Good job with the stretching by the way, hard work pays off.

Andrew ( the moron )

ps. hope you found your contact

I once flushed a contact down the toilet. I didn’t find that one.

David

Lol! now that would of been an adventure!

Andrew

I worked toward that for a long time. Never could get the box splits. I have been in Martial Arts for over 20 years and even though I rarely stretch now am still very flexible. The problem I always had was related to a knee injury. Every time I would get the flexibility to due the box split I would loose all stability in my knee. I have very little tendon and ligament stability. It is all in the quad and hamstring muscles. When I got them flexible my knee would start acting up.

I have considered that I may have been pushing the stretching without strengthening the quads enough. I bought a program called power stretching or something like that, but it took a lot of time. The key was to really heat up the muscle through strengthening exercises and then push yourself during the stretch. I think I have the video upstairs. I may give it a try again. Now that I have mastered uni, I could use a new challenge.

Bugman, There is alot of pressure on the knee when doing box splits but theres the exercise of doing dance front splits because the back leg does the same thing in box. What Martial Arts you been doing? I started stretching to be able to kick head height. I can now get the foot above the head. Knees arnt the best things to have injurys on.

As a youngin, I started with Judo. Not enough hitting. Later I took Tae Kwon Do and achieved a 2nd degree BlackBelt while training in Korea. This was long after my initial knee injury which happened wrecking a motorcycle in 1980 as a Highschool freshman. After a 5 year break from Martial arts, I started taking Choi Kwang Do. I took Tae Kwon Do from the founder before joining the Army Team. He developed a new art that uses soft forms and is much easier on the joints. He was walking with a cane when I left to go over seas. When I came back he was doing amazing things tha I didn’t think he would ever do again. He was an 8th Degree in Tae Kwan do, and had endured years of joint abuse. I was an instructor for about 5 years, and finally moved on to new interests. Here is a link to the site. Choi Kwang Do The new image in Martial Arts Keep in mind that GrandMaster Choi is about 60+.
