Bottle Cages

WANTS! Looks like a good position for grabbing bottle while cycling too…

Here’s the set up I’ve been trying recently. Adjustable SKS bottle cages with 2 SKS portable mounts secured with zip ties to save space. I’ve matched it with a cargo cage in the back by Blackburn Design.

It’s nice for being able to carry a water bottle and my tools in a container on the front. For longer rides it’s a good way to keep bulky and light items out of my pack to create more space for water.

The idea came to me as a way to pack some extra gear when I was looking to do a unpacking trip. I was debating getting a 2nd cargo cage for the front but my knees barely clear the current set-up on the front.

I like hydrators more than traditional water bottles. The hydrators fit easily into your bag and are easy to drink thanks to the tubes. No need to keep your hands busy opening the bottle, hold the lid, etc. I have 2 Osprey hydrators and have enough for a run or bike ride.
