I had to comment on your choice of a name. We had a little group in the 80’s
called the Big Apple Unicyclists. There was never much in the way of regular
practices, but we occasionally got together for a parade, some basketball, a
ride in Central Park, or just some practice.

We had a Joshua De La Mata, who lived in Brooklyn. That’s the main name I can
remember from that group who might still be around. He was a really good rider,
and I have a picture of him jumping a big gap between two rocks in Central Park
(80’s MUni). He’d be in his early 30’s now, I think.

Another rider is Wayne Pounds, who lived in Manhattan (and his son, Uni). He
would definitely be interested if he’s still around. He organized several of the
rides we did, including a basketball tournament which was a tribute to Charles
King, founder of the King Charles Troupe.

Plus there’s Tom Lloyd, who lives in New Hyde Park (Nassau). He was the last
remaining member of the Long Island Unicyclists after I moved away. He came to
Nationals last summer in Washington. Go ahead and give him a try at
516-248-6608, I don’t think he’ll mind.

Where did you want to ride?

Good luck, John Foss, the Uni-Cyclone http://www.unicycling.com
