Bent wheel on a DX

Alright, is there ANYWAY to put thishttp://www.unicycle.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=665 on a Torker DX? That is what we are really trying to find out.

couple weeks/months ago this guy was selling his torker & the pics shown are of a 24x3" tire fitting into the frame. assuming you bought the same unicycle he was selling, it looks like you could get the kh wheelset into yours, or you could just get a new rim and have everything else built back up!

Only if you have a 2005 model Torker DX. The 2005 model has a taller frame that can fit a larger wheel. Jagur was able to fit a 3" tire in a 2005 Torker DX frame. Previous Torker frames would not fit a 3" tire.

yup its a 2005, the original wheel is on it and i can get my hand through the gap!

but the sides ive measured, between the frame , the width and it measurs to be 3" or a tiny bit under, so i dont think it would be good to put a 3" tire in it or by chance it might rub sometimes. probably something like a 2.6 or 2.7 would be better.

theres somthing about tires, they’er not as wide as they say they are.so a 3" tire might not necissarily be 3" wide.

you could buy the kenda kalossal 24x2.6 for $5!!its on close out price.Works great for my 2005 dx.

go to www.kendausa.com

Yep, I was running a Panaracer Fire FR 2.4 on the front of my mountain bike and it was eating into my fork in the turns. They can call it what they want…it’s a 2.7

that kenda sounds like a good deal, im gonna attempt to order it, even if we dont use it.

what rim would go with that the best? keep in mind its a 24" uni 2005 torker DX .

we like the k-rads tho, will this thing (2.3) fit any good rim? or are we going to have to get a different tire like the kolossal.

we like the k-rads because we do street riding (they are curved) and we do some trail riding, it goes both ways.

Yeah,i ordered several, just because they are on sale.

you have to call, tho.you cant order online.

i noticed, the lady gave me a list of suppliers, the closest one is georgia, im not even gonna bother with it.

I can’t speak for the other 3" tires, but I’ve got the 2005 DX24 with the Arrow Racing Savage tire with plenty of room all around. Never any rubbing.

I’m curious though about how the DX hub/crankset compares to the higher priced ones in strength. I’m sure its weaker, but has anyone snapped off a DX crank here? and if so under what conditions? I guess my question is this…Why buy a new wheelset just because you bent the rim on the one you have? Why not just fix or shop for a replacement (likely stronger) rim and ride your DX till something serious happens to it?

ya … like a ‘Large Marge’ …
(if ya can wait till they are available)

Can one convert from a 48 spoke hub to 32 or 36 hole rim …?

yeah we know of a wheel builder that can do it for us.

we’re basically looking to buy a new rim now, and then upgrade the hub and crankset to a kh or something later to make sure its strong enough.

but the problem is getting a rim that strong and that will fit the dx tire.

(bump)

an ALEX DX32 rim should suit this build just fine.
