Back mount

I read that back mount is something that many learn easily but I struggle with it. After watching Jack Sebben’s videos (https://youtu.be/7zek3QbMJpg?t=161) I realised that my normal seat height might be too high. Do you back mount with a lower seat height?

I personally never do back mounts but I can imagine that a lower seat could help.

I only ever did this on the 20er where the seat is a bit lower than on the road unicycles anyway. But my seat is a fair bit higher than Jack‘s. He can almost move the unicycle under his butt while standing whereas I need to either hop on it or do a „reverse roll back mount“ (a roll forward mount).
There’s more than one way to skin a cat.

A hop “front mount”(a more accurate description, because you are standing in front) is it’s own trick and looks quite difficult.
If you can land it make a video. You might be “the first”.
Good luck.

…slam

A lower seat definitely helps. When I still had long cranks, all sorts aof back mounts (normal, to 1ft, to ww) were pretty easy. Now with 75s and a very high seat, the normall back mount is the only one I can still do. The others got relly hard to do.

My description obviously lacked the required accuracy, due to english being a foreign language to me.
Im not really hopping on the uni (don‘t even dare to try a normal jump mount). I‘m pushing myself off the ground. The seat is between my thighs, as close to the butt as possible. The kinetic energy eventually moves me up to the normal riding position.
Tried that yesterday for the first time since a long time and wasn‘t successful. Probably due to the saddle being higher than when I originally learned it (I had 114mm cranks back then, have 110s now), plus I wasn‘t ready t risk a fall, given my current wrist injury.

I even learned it with 125s and now ride 75s. :grimacing:

That makes quite a difference!
