AXO Dualy now 661 Dualy

And they don’t look quite as good (as far as ankel support)… so get those AXO dualies while you can…

Christopher

I tried a pair of the 661s and sent them back. My AXOs (thanks John
Childs!) are just slightly too small, so I ordered the next size up from a
site that claimed to have them, but of course I actually received the
SixSixOne type. As you say, they don’t have the extra removable ankle
brace. They also were slightly too big and didn’t feel as good so I sent
them back (gotta hate that Euro sizing). If you can find your size of the
AXO type, grab as many pairs as you can!

shoebuy.com gives 10% off with no tax and free shipping, a better deal
than axocycling.com. I think it was $71 total. It’s
http://www.shoebuy.com/sj?&Search=dually&Page=1&Style=2489 (still has the
AXO picture)

Now that I’ve used the slightly small AXOs on several rides, they feel ok

  • maybe they stretched a little. I even used them with ActiveAnkles ok.
    Great shoes!

This is shaping up to be a bad year for shoes. The good shoes are being discontinued and the replacement shoes are turning out to be not as good.

Right now there isn’t a good Vans shoe for muni. There are some that are adequate, but nothing good. All the new ones have street style uppers. They aren’t designed to take the abuse of the trail. The Vans Weld Flat has the sole that I like and it has some heel protection, but its upper is unwearable. The tongue binds me right across the toes. I hope Vans comes out with something better soon.

The Axo Dualy is a good shoe. It just has strange sizing, and I wish they would offer half sizes. The sole on the Dualy doesn’t have as much grip as Vans, but they still grip well enough. I’ll continue to use the Dualy until I can find some Vans or something else that suits me better.

I was more than happy to see Vans come out with the old school tread on the bottom of their shoes… that enough would make me buy a hundred pairs or so… I’m thinking of picking up some AXO if I can find some.

I’v found all sorts of AXO Duellies- for migets and children. You want a size 8? Man, I can hook you UP? You here me?

Anyway, if anybody knows where to find a size 11, please point me.

I Spoke with Scott at Go-Bike.com. He says he owns several pairs of AXO Duallies, and Likes the 661 better for the lack of gator- says they fit closer to the foot without it. I think he would like to sell me some shoes.

Guess I’ll keep looking (should have baught the damn size 12 on Overstock.com when I had the chance… dum dum dum)

I need a 10.5

Me too.
Unfortunately AXO does not make a size that is the same as an American size 10.5. AXO does Euro shoe sizes and they only do whole Euro sizes (no half sizes). A Euro 44 will be too small for you. A Euro 45 will probably be a little big. If you can find a pair of AXO’s get a size 45 cause that is as close as you will get to an American 10.5.

Anyone know where some sets are laying around? I’m also looking into some sixsixone leg armor.

661 leg armor can be had from unicycle.com. I just got a pair.
