I thought this was an interesting read. I also took the liberty to look up various methods of banana peeling. Here. Discuss.
My boss eats a banana by slitting the peel open the long way, folding it back, and eating the fruit with a fork. The peel is never actually peeled but serves instead as a platter of sorts.
Yes
Just watch the monkeys and learn.
if you know what i mean…
I think I do!
I also hear the specific noise of the coming threadjack;).
i see what you did there,
its getting harder to notice these things.
I grew up peeling bananans from the stem until we met a family from Sri Lanka (Ceylon back then), I was probably middle-school age at the time. Their kids said the correct way was to insert the fingernail on the bottom (opposite the stem side) and peel towards the stem. Not only is that an easier way to peel, the stem gives a great handle for holding. I’ve done it that way ever since.
Oh my God! I think like a 16 y/o boy!! On one hand (:o) I feel ashamed for that, on the other hand ( ), even Terry can’t go this younger.
I like bananas because bananas have appeal.
Do you know how to smoke a banana?
that just seems British and dandy-fop.
u r un-american!!
You are un-normal.
I prefer to peel my plums.
Whaaat??!!
Oh come on, someone had to say it!
I’ll be disappointed if this doesn’t get an ‘intothebluestupid’ tag.
here’s a fun way.
1 cut banana in half
2 scoop out with a spoon one bite at a time.
I don’t care how monkeys do it, what the internet says, or how much ‘better’ the non-stem end is. I peel my bananas from the stem – the way a REAL tropical native does it. If you don’t have the skill to properly open a banana the stem method, I guess you could do it the way the less dexterous monkeys do it…
If anyone wants to try to convince me otherwise, they might as well try to get me to sell my uni for a b*ke
what about the occasional strip of – not quite sure if it’s peel or banana or something else entirely – that occasionally stays on the banana after the peel comes down.
What do you do with that?
Admit it. You only researched this because of dorm life? Right? Right?..
I usually eat it… - or play with it
I’ve also thought about this a bit more (I was just eating bananas this afternoon and just tried it both ways). It takes too much time to set your fingers up right to peel it from the non-stem side. It is WAY faster to grab the banana, grab the stem, then yank it down. It’s like a giant zipper as a opposed to a button.
I’m certain If there was a speed-banana-peeling sport, the record holders for ‘most bananas peeled in a minute’ all use the stem method.
stem method ftw;)
Sometimes I slice off the ends, then slice the peel down from top to bottom, and peel open. There’s only once piece to throw away.
Btw, my favorite kind of “peel”
Thatssssssss what she said.
