age groups / competetition / new divisions

Something that we often have in music competetions is to divide people either by
their ability, or by their experience. Thus, there are competitions open to
people who have been learning less than a year, 1-2 years, 3 or more years, or
whatever. Or they go by the grading system in AMEB music: 1st grade, 2nd grade
and so on.

I’m not sure if they’re connected, but the Unicon could probably use the IUF
“levels” to separate people on the basis of ability. While I realise there is a
big difference between one’s ability to do tricks and to go fast, this is
probably the most sensible categorisation.

I also think that the idea of qualifying for the expert races from the novice
races is a good idea. Perhaps the divisions could be something like:

expert open age novice open age(riding less than 1year) Levels 2-4 levels 5-7

I guess that level 1 would fall into the novice category, and anybody in level 8
or above would go in expert.

oh well, that’s my $0.02, from somebody who isn’t likely to attend a uni
convention for a fair few years yet (but I will be going)

I’m just happy that Cirque de Soleil is coming to Perth.

Oh yeah, regarding the two comments about flaming: as far as I know, that kind
of thing doesn’t happen on this newsgroup, especially not if you’re actually
discussing UNICYCLING.

unfortunately with the current economic crisis Nick’s AUS$ 0.02 is only worth a
little over a US$ 0.01

I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can
picture us attacking that world, because they’d never expect it.
