Adding music to a video shot on a digital camera

Hey there!

I am making some great progress on my all-female EXtreme Unicycling movie! (probably going to be called One-Wheeled Women).

However, I need some help regarding putting music along with the video when it plays. I think it is a Sony Mini-DV digital camera (model: DCR HC40). I looked all over the manual that came with it but all I can find related to this issue is something that says “Audio/sound cannot be recorded separate from video”. Is this true? Is there any way that I can “dub” additional sound/music in to the movie? Do I have to use the special software?

Thanks guys!!

L8er,

Of all the people who tried to keep people from replying to their threads, none were successful. But when someone asks a question they get no replies.

Humph.

Editing in the camera (trying to shoot stuff exactly how it will finally appear in your movie) is extremely difficult and limiting. If you’re going to have real serious fun making your own vids/movies, you need to get a video editing program for your computer. There are lots of them out there, some of which are expensive and sophisticated (Final Cut), and others are cheap but will still do all the basic stuff (iMovie).

You should import your video footage to your hard drive via the editing program, and you can then add more or less anything that can be made into a digital file. Text (titles), still images, music, sound effects, dubs, animations, whatever.

I did this a few weeks back when learning to ride.
