5th Annual Berkeley Juggling and Unicycle Festival, September 18-20, 2009

The 5th annual Berkeley Juggling and Unicycle Festival is coming up, September 18-20, 2009, and all unicyclists are invited to attend! This festival has a ton of unicycle content, including beginner’s and advanced MUni rides, a custom-built trials course, a big wheel on-road party ride, unicycle basketball with the Berkeley Revolution basketball team, and lots of workshops and unicycle games. It’s a lot of fun, and you should come out and join us!

It’s scheduled for the weekend before California MUni Weekend, so if you’re thinking of coming in from out of town, you can stay for a week and do both events! Berkeley is about a three hour drive from the planned CMW events.

More information about the festival is available on the web site: http://berkeleyjuggling.org/festival/

We’ll hope to see you there!

The festival is this weekend! Things are really ramping up and it’s going to be a lot of fun.

If you’ve been to the festival before, you should know that there’s a venue change. The festival will be held at Berkeley High School, 1980 Allston Way, in the “Jacket” gym. The show on Saturday night will still be held at the old location, King Middle School, 1781 Rose Street.

There will be a ton of unicycle events, including:

Friday, 9/18

7:00 PM: Unicycle basketball with the Berkeley Revolution

Saturday 9/19

10:00 AM: Big wheel party ride
2:00 PM: “My First MUni ride”
7:30 PM: Variety show, including performances by Ryan Woessner and Kaori Matsuzawa

Sunday 9/20

10:00 AM: Hard-core MUni ride
1:00-4:00 PM: Unicycle games

We’ll hope to see you there!

I went to this last year and really enjoyed myself. A bunch of the acts in the performance on Saturday were VERY impressive.

I’ll be there again this year, but I’m out of shape and practice, so I probably won’t do the advanced Muni ride.

I forgot to mention: Corbin Dunn has built some trials obstacles for us, so there will also be a trials course for people to injure themselves on.

Yup! I have pictures… I’ll try to upload them ASAP.

Most the obstacles aren’t terribly difficult. It is also hard to build things that are portable, since I have to make sure they are sturdy enough without ground reenforcement.

Stuff looks pretty fun! I leave Portland today and get into Berkeley at about 8:30 tomorrow morning. Can’t wait! How tall is the highest step in the attached picture?

Nice, the narrow up-ramp looks cool.

It’s as tall as my seat :). Approx 6 normal stair heights.

Also see the other pictures of me hopping on it for reference.

haha well I’ll have to see if I can get up to tire on it soon then.
