I am not very good at freestyle or flatland but I have ridden Semcycles, Miyata’s, Wyganowski’s, KH 20’s, Torkers and other uni’s with 20" flat crown frames…and I have to say that the Torker LX or DX 20" crown sticks out the most. It really bugs me when I’m trying to do any kind of skill where I am riding with my legs pinched together a little more than usual so that one or both of my legs are closer to the crown of the frame and occasionally hits that part of the uni (kinda reminds me of a Trials frame in that regard)…but then again, I’m picky and used to my old-skool Miyata freestyle. Also, they could have made the crown a little less “slippery” and “glossy” cuz when I tried to do 1-ft. ww my foot on the frame slipped off a lot.
Oh, and my Wellgo pedal bearings are sloppy or rounded out, too.
But overall, they’re good unicycles for the money!
I ordered a DX 24". I’m not yet able to ride it well enough to speak about how it handles, but I do know when I emailed unicycle.com and asked what they recommend for someone learning to ride in Iraq, and wanting it to be in good enough condition to keep riding when I get back to the states, they recommended the Torker Unistar DX 24".
hi i know that the 2004 lx crown is flat but apparently a few ppl dont
bicycle-source.com is selling the 2004 LX unistar for only $70 the text says it’s a 2004 modle but the pictures dissagree i already notifed them but they havent responded
If you add up the shipping and required insurance, you’re gonna spend just $10 less than I paid getting the flat crown 2004 LX directly from Unicycle.com. And they’ll stand behind their products.
Right, $98 on ebay, I paid $108. And the people at uni.com are GREAT. They sent me a part I needed and didn’t charge shipping, and sent me a free set of pedals because my LBS told me mine were defective.
I own a unistar LX 24" and I love it. My friend got on not too long ago and after riding it I knew I had to get one. The only thing i dont like about it was the pedals it came with. So, I bought some BMX pedals to repace the plastic ones it came with. Even after purchasing the pedals I only spent about $130 (Its a great uni for the price).
Hey yeah I am thinkning about ordering the torker DX uni but on every site that sells it such as unicycle.com and sunrisecyclery.com they don’t tell you the crank size.
Just bought an 04 Torker LX 24 this winter from bicyclesource.us-
I love the uni- its my first, so this is probably a pretty unqualified opinion- but it went together well and looks pretty solid. The double bolt seatpost clamp will be very easy to strip, though. I’ve tried to be really careful with mine. The pedals are super-cheesy, but I’m just wrecking them up falling all over the place now anyway, so no biggie.
A word of caution about bicyclesource, though. They are a big eBay dealer but I bought throught their website. No uni for a month after I ordered, no response to multiple emails, reponses to phonecalls were sporadic and took at least a day. When I finally did get to talk to someone, after more than a month from my order date, I could overhear the lady asking her supervisor when it would be coming into THEIR shop so they could ship it- so they weren’t in stock when I ordered, I guess. It is the 04 square model, though- I think they have fixed the photo at this point.
