1998 New Years Resolution

For some reason, on the last day of 1997, I resolved to ride to work sometime in
1998 on a unicycle while juggling. At that time I didn’t have a uni, and could
ride about 100m max. Finally, today (the last chance in 1998) I went for
it.Shaky at first, it got easier, and after 30 minutes felt comfortable.

It’s pretty boring though, so I decided to count catches. The total was 10050 (I
dropped at 9995 turning into the parking lot), and the longest run was 1290
catches. The distance is just over 10km (6 1/2 miles).

The question is for next year, should I up it to 4 balls or just switch to
clubs? I think 5 balls would be hard because you couldn’t see where you’re
going. What are your best long distance uni/juggle runs? Has anyone tried 5
balls or 4 or 5 clubs?

Have a great New Year, may you juggle and/or unicycle like never before, Nathan

Contratulations to Nathan on his success!

I’ve never thought of a reason to ride anywhere while juggling, except around a
stage. In 1983, we had a competition at the Nationals (UNICON 0) to do the
official USA Obstacle Course while juggling. Those of you familiar with the
course (used also at IUF and the Davis Cyclebration) know it’s hard enough with
empty hands. It took a while before anyone made it through, but I was the first.

Want a real challenge? Ride backward to work while juggling. Wear a helmet, and
stay off the road!

Nathan~~

Impressive!! wow!! I can juggle 3 balls on my uni, but not for very long
really… But I just got clubs for Xmas, which are really really fun, even
though I’m not very good at them! They’re a lot more fun to catch and it’s just
so satisfying to feel it land perfectly in your hand. I haven’t tried clubs on
my uni yet, but I have heard that clubs are harder to drop once you get good.
(lots more to grab). Plus they’re bigger and just look awesome!

I’m new in this group, so hopefully I won’t break any unknown etiquette. I just
got my first clubs the other day, and am finally almost able to do all three of
them, so to me, the clubs would be better for next year. It would impress me, at
least! Incidentally, if you respond to me, please do it raul27@hotmail.com

Bump.

How’d y’all make out on these?

What he meant to say:

Thanks for setting big goals Nathan. You’ve helped take the sport up many notches in several different areas these past nine years. I hope you have a great New Year, and continue to juggle and unicycle like never before.

ya lets not bring up 7 year old threads

Why this is cool, and if it wasn’t brought up I wouldn’t have read it in all its glory. Plus bringing up old threads is wayyy better than making new ones.

This is awesome. A 7 year old thread.

I noticed the name and i was like “what the F**k”
What the hell is this, then i read it and i was like :astonished:

Fixed.

er - happy new year?
