180 jump twists

I’m trying to figure out the best direction to spin for my 180 jump twists. When I spin counterclockwise, I throw my hand away from my body. When I spin clockwise, I throw my hand across my body. I’m not sure which technique is better.

Also, I could use some tips for when I actually do the spin. For clockwise, I’m supposed to throw my hand across my body, but instead, it moves in the opposite direction and pushes away to help me spin—which probably isn’t the best technique for a jump twist. The same thing happens when I spin counterclockwise.

How can I get my hand to move in the right direction for the spin? Any advice would be really helpful!

I’d guess that it is probably a matter of timing, if you start the arm movement in the direction of the twist before you jump, it adds momentum in that direction by initiating the twist.
If you start that same movement mid air, it works against the twist.

I didn’t think about that, thanks!
