Zen Buddhist Thread - No Christians or Athiests Allowed!!!

I’m kidding of course. You can be Christian or Athiest and still be Buddhist. Heck, you can be in my thread even if you’re not Buddhist.

So this thread started out as sarcasm, but still, anyone want to talk about it? Anybody read any Dan Milman books?

oh my god…

oh wait, nevermind, I don’t have any, or at least none that have shown any evidence to it’s followers or non-followers.

“I don’t mind god, it’s his fan club I can’t stand”

bumper sticker.

I always thought I’d make a great bootist.

Sarcasm isn’t very Zen.

^ yeah, totally not Zen.

I’m quite fond of this bumper sticker.

That was Zen, this is Tao.

Tao Zen, that was funny!

yes funny. very good. May I use that in conversation?

Were you being sarcastic?

Haven’t read Dan Milman. How about Alan Watts??! Very accessible.

PS Not believing in GOD is like not believing in LOVE. If you require proof, you won’t believe in LOVE or GOD. Neither is provable. And people who are fans of LOVE make the others sick.

Alan Watts is fun to read, but even more so to listen to. I used to listen to him on WBAI and/or WFMU. He originally did lectures on the first Pacifica station, KPFA in Berkeley. There’s some free stuff here.

I’ll have to look him up.

Love is something to experience, not something that requires belief. I expect others to say the same thing about the great pumpkin.

Zen has no content, so whatever you can say about Zen, you’re still off the mark. That’s why Zen cannot be in conflict with any organized religion–no content. It’s also quite common in the US to be a Zazen practitioneer and not be a Buddhist, so to speak.

Interesting you bring this up.
I find it much easier to accept the existance of God than I do of love.
I’ve seen more proof of God than of love.

I usually have no interest discussing relegion (or politics) on discussion boards, but your post actually made me think a bit, so you get a rare response.
