Your name in (outer) space !

Hi, Everyone! No, this isn’t about unicycling, but it is cool… By the end of this year, the Planetary Society of Japan is going to send a probe to land on and collect mineral samples from Asteroid 1998 SF36
. They want to collect a million names to go inside a landing-target marker-sphere, which will remain on the asteroid when the probe returns to Earth. If your name on the list, you can register until July 6th at http://www.planetary.or.jp/muses-c/pc/en/ No messages, just names… but I suppose you could make your “name” into a message … or vice versa

also not about unicycling… but
also about space.

Right now I have (via a DVB-PCI) a straigh sattelite connection on Linux & WIN-K2.
So I was extra intrested when today (only one) Dutch newspaper (a big and serious one) reported about “live connections to US spy-planes above the Balkan-area”.
I wonder if it also hit the US news (or if it was cencored)?
If not, I wonder how many people know about Dutch kids who changed positions of sattelites (and back).

[I think this topic can better be moved to the “just conversation” section.]

Re: Your name in (outer) space !

On a related note, NASA is collecting names until November 15, 2002
which will be recorded on CDs and launched aboard two separate Mars
Exploration Rover-2003 missions. If you fancy having your name, or
anyone else’s, rocketed into space for deposit on the Martian
landscape, use the following URL for submission:
