Your Clocks Need Your Help!

For those of us who are affected by it, Daylight Savings Time takes effect TODAY GMT (Greenwitch Mean Time), or tomorow for most people in North America.

Just a friendly reminder :)!

Thanks…

Who wouldn’t be affected by it?
Isn’t everyone affected?
Did I hear at one time that like Ohio or some state doesn’t recognize it, or something like that?

Up here in Canada, the province of Saskatchewan sure doesn’t do Daylight Savings.

indiana is doing it for the first time this year

Arizona doesn’t do it, nor Saskatchewan…I personally think Daylight Savings Time is stupid.

I just learned this recently, so I’m posting it because other people might find it interesting.

It’s not Daylight Savings Time, it’s Daylight Saving Time

Yep. Doesn’t “save” anything…

DST is great. we’ll get even more of it to enjoy next year, because apparently congress didn’t have any better ideas for saving oil. BC liked the idea too.

cost me an hour of sleep.

No. You made a deposit into the time bank. Into your savings account. Your daylight savings account. You can make a withdrawal in the fall. This investment pays a dividend of one tax-free extra hour of glorious sunshine* every single day. Enjoy!

    • note: the total number of hours of daylight on any given day is fixed and cannot be regulated by the government. DST simply avoids “wasted” daylight – daylight that comes while you are sleeping – and gives it to you to use after work, so you can unicycle longer.

HaHaHa i gained an hour sleep on saturday night because in australia (at least on th east coast) daylight saving has just finished. thank god. i was sick of getting up in the dark.

Cheers,

Max

i hear ya

I’m not sure it’s entirely effective all over the world, but in the UK it’s highly usefull. I heard that Australia delayed it a week because of the olympic games, anyone care to verify that?

daylights saving time is dumb!!!

Well thanks for such a well structured and convincing argument. Just repeating what you said before really helped me to get to grips with the points you covered.

Seriously though, it stops me being woken too early by the sun in the morning, and means i can continue riding an hour longer in to the evening, what’s not to like?

It wasn’t supposed to be well structured OR convincing…assuming you’re talking to me ( :
I just think it would be easier to just live with the fact that the Earth moves, which changes when the sun comes out. Many parts of Scandinavia does everything by the sun, and they’re so far north that sometimes they get days with no sunlight at all. Just makes more sense to me that way.

I’ve unicycled in the dark all winter long. I am not too fond of the cancer causing sun, anyway, and when I have to uni in the daylight, I wear LOTS of protection.

Got that troll question in your signature!

Billy

This is patently absurd. We have a president who caused both a tsunami and a hurricane. And he’s only a tiny part of our government. The US treasury could mint time if they wanted. Congress could issue an edict to elongate time whenever they wished. Canada’s silly government of course doesn’t have such monumental powers. Where did you go to school, New Jersey?

Edit: Note who the prime minister of Canada is now.
