i just heard about him. listening to him now…HE STINKING ROCKS!!!
so anyway what do you guys think of him??

He’s not bad. Some of his songs are a bit cheesy, though.
He’s got a good technique, that’s for sure.
Kinda cheesy? Of course, he was/ still is an 80s rocker. Its not Yngwie without the cheese.
That being said, he also has great musical talent. He has composed great works of art, and his performances live are crazy. Running across the stage, picking with his teeth, swinging he guitar around his neck and high into the air. He definitely has great showmanship.
Besides that, his classical playing is outstanding. He has a great cd where all it is is him playing with an orchestra and its must have for any Yngwie fan. He also Pioneered classical music into rock, creating Neo-classical.
His technique is great, speed is amazing, keeping each note clean. Another thing, he improves every solo while on tour. Not many guitarist can on a whim, add scales and solo parts without ever needing to sit down and think about it.
To me though, I find some of Yngwie’s stuff to boring, probably because I can play a lot of his stuff, and its not as jaw dropping as it was when I first heard it. Yngwie is still a guitar god, and will always be so.
If you like Yngwie, Check out Jason Becker, John Petrucci, Micheal Romeo, Paul Gilbert, Chris Impellitteri, Micheal Angelo Batio, and there are a few more, but I cant think of their name right now.

It’s heartbreaking what happened to Jason Becker. I sort of got disinterested in guitar for a while, but I recently started reading guitar mags again, and there was a recent article with him and his struggle with ALS. He went from being a young guitar stud to being essentially completely immobile.
Yngwie never really moved me. Of course he’s phenomenal, but I’m more into Vai and Satriani.

If you like Yngwie and you don’t already know about them, check out Dragonforce. Freakin awesome. Herman Li is insanely fast. I’ve seen them twice now and both times have been incredible.
