Yike2Work week (UK)

Take a look at www.bikeweek.org.uk

I have contacted Nick Harvey (co-ordinator) and
he is sending me some sponsorship forms (Cancer
Research UK). Nick was quite interested and said
the Coker might be newsworthy.

This is just before Red Bull and I’ve said I will do
the ride for one day only (20 miles each way, which is
a fair distance pour moi). Don’t want to kill myself
before the big event.

No showers at the office so I guess I’ll be honking by
the end of the day. At least my colleagues won’t
crowd me too much.

Anyway, anyone else up for this? I guess Joe
Marshall already cycles to work…

I tend to yike to work on Fridays anyway (that’s the day I go to the pub for
lunch, which means I don’t need to take sandwiches, so I can fit everything
in my Camelbak). I’ll probably yike more than once during National Cycling
Week.

I usually make a point of yiking on Bike to Work Day (which will presumably
be the Wednesday, since it always has been in the past). But if there’s a
Bike to Work tea at Mangotsfield Station, like there was last year, then
I’ll probably take the bent. (Just checked the Bristol Cycling Campaign
site though, and it doesn’t look like there will be).

While we’re on the subject, is anyone else up for doing Bristol’s Biggest
Bike Ride (23 June) on Munis or Cokers? So far it’s Jamie Fletcher (if he
manages to get a unicycle up to Bristol by then) and me. And if it’s just
me, I’ll use a bike instead.

Today (Friday) was bike to work day in the Seattle area. In past years I have taken my Coker and left the car at home. But this year I wimped out and drove to work with the muni in the back of the car. I decided that it would be more fun to skip out of work early, go see Star Wars, go for a muni ride on Tiger Mountain and then have a late dinner and a beer at the pub in Issaquah.

So much for bike to work day this year.
