One of the most impressive sporters I’ve ever met is the team-manager of 7-eleven, and later Motorola, and later US Postal, by now know as Discovery.
Hennie Kuiper (who is the person who offered Lance Armstrong his 1st contract) won a gold medal on the 1972 Olympics in Munchen.
Ever since then the olympics are scared for another political statement.
So during the 2008 Olympics, will Tiananmen Square become the stage of terrorists again:
or will there only be sunshine and peace:
and harmony among sporters who are such great rolemodels to the republic?
For the athletes it is unfortunate that China is going to hold the Summer Olympics. There is the potential for politics to overshaddow the games and the athletes.
I am no fan of the Chinese government. I do as little as possible to give them any recognition. I will not travel to China even for a unicycling convention. I will likely ignore the 2008 Summer games as much as possible. I’ll be interested in the cycling events, but other than that, meh.
