WW and UW

For me a ultimate wheel is way easier than dragging the seat. It took me
about an hour to learn an uw and yet I have spent hours trying to learn
dragging the seat.

This may be an obvious question, but if you can unicycle with the seat dragging,
can you ride an ultimate wheel and vice versa? Is one easier than the other?

After a couple of abortive attempts with the wheel removed from my unicycle, I
only needed about 20-30 mins when I finally got my mitts on a nice chipboard UW.
Total learning time certainly not more than an hour.

I have taught several friends to ride unicycles. When one of them came to learn
the UW last year, I would say the total practice time required was also less
than an hour. The same goes for the two friends she then went on to teach.

I reckon when you’re ready to learn you’re ready to learn. It just comes down to
having user friendly equipment.

A purpose-built (there I go again) ultimate wheel should be easier than seat
drag, because when seat dragging you have those pedals that are way out to the
sides from your wheel, plus some friction from the dragging seat that makes it
harder to correct to the left & right as you ride.

Re: WW and UW

Since I learned to ride (still somewhat precariously) a normal wheel as an
ultimate wheel, seat dragging wasn’t much different. I found that riding a
unicycle and then dropping your seat out behind you, while continuing to ride,
is easier than mounting on an ultimate wheel, but once you’re up, the ultimate
wheel is easier (but hard too- I can’t believe it only took Dan an hour to learn
to ride an ultimate wheel!).

I agree that a UW is easier, and I suspect most riders agree.
