i have only been doing uni for about a year and a half now and i want o know wut is rim tape and wut dose it do? 
It’s that rubber strip that goes around the rim under the tube to prevent flats from the ends of the spokes.
Take your tire off and you’ll see it.
idk what it does but if you see a drilled rim and its got a color in the holes thats the rim strip. if you cant tell then its black
It helps keep the tube from being punctured, and is particularly useful on single-wall or drilled rims…
…on drilled rims it has the added bonus of appearance:)
though single walled rims are the main culprit, as the spoke nipples can poke through, particularly when you’re truing the wheel.

Not necesarily rubber - the best type is ‘velox’ and is self-adhesive
cloth.
