After the first few rides in damp conditions on the WTB Stout 2.3 29" tire the initial impression is that it should be great Winter tire. I’ve been riding on a Racing Ralph over the summer, and initially the Stout feels really slow and heavy off road compared to the Ralph, though you get the feeling it’s a lot more durable and ultimately has more bite.
Overall size/width wise it’s a close thing, though the knobbies on the Stout are significantly larger.
Once you get used to it, the Stout seems to be a lot of fun and a good match for the 47mm rim.
I’ll be keeping a diary of how the Stout goes over the coming months (Winter).
