My wife and I just sold our house. It only took 2 days to sell, and we got enough for it that we profitted. We’re very excited. A word of caution:
If you’re looking to buy a condo, make sure you look into everything. What do the condo fees cover, how much does the corp have in reserve funds… everything you can find out about. We bought this house in Sept 05, and found out that it wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. So be careful.

I can’t stand the idea of condo living, I make too much noise with my beagle and my cello to have close neighbors!!
Selling a house can be a stressful time. My folks took 2.5 years to sell theirs and it was no end of grief for them.
In high school and college I used to practice tuba on the back porch of my parents’ house. They lived on the side of a valley… “close” is a relative term, I guess! 
We’re staying in the Bay. We just needed out of there. We’re looking for a more suitable house, one with a big yard for the kids (and for me to set up a trials area for me). If we can’t find something before the move date, then we’ll shack up at my mom’s for a while. She has a 5 bed house and lives alone.
The only reason we sold so quickly was due to the market conditions here. There are tons of people looking to buy, and not many houses on the market. Good luck for a change.
