I never heard of a swing Bike until Colbyslanbia put Paul Anderson’s youtube video of a swing bike in an earlier thread. Thanks for sharing.
Once I watched the video I thought I could build one. It’s kind of hard to describe what I did.
I used a used 24" unicycle and 24" mountain bike.
Two old ten speed frames.
A new front rim, tube, and tire.
A wedge seat post.
I was lucky to have a friend do the welding for free. Here is the before and after pictures. If you have any questions, please ask.
Beautiful work! Have you ridden it yet?
Yes, I have and it is a little crazy to ride. My first ride I nearly fell off. Now I can ride around and do very sharp donuts. It is a lot of fun.
Really neat!
I tried one at a bicycle museum outside of Paris, it was fun. I hadn’t unicycled for a decade and I understood pretty quickly that it was about being in the saddle. It’s probably the thing that planted the idea of getting a uni again.
That looks great, you should treat your welder buddy to a nice dinner.
Have fun riding, it looks like a blast.
Jim
That looks neat. Look’s fun to ride.
Thanks for sharing.
Looks amazing! Must be fun.
And I think you can use “usual bike saddle” with handle bars?
Did you try riding it before welding them together?
I’ve never seen or heard of a swing bike before, after watching some videos on youtube that looks like a lot of fun, maybe with a hint of danger
Post a video when you get a chance, i’d love to see your in action.
Hi all,
Pierrox I think it’s cool that a swing bike got you thinking about riding a unicycle again.
LargeEddie, jcdoherty and Alucard thanks for your encouragement.
HudsonAktau I never thought about using a bike saddle. It might make it easier to ride.
beefybij I didn’t ride it before it was welded. I put it together before it was painted to check the seat height. With the 24" wheels the seat is higher than I thought it would be.
anton005 there is a hint of danger, but in a fun way. I’ll have to think about a video because I’m a little camera shy.
