Having not seen him since 1980, I wonder if we will miss Buddy Glass?
Beyond measure.
I have been missing Buddy all my life.
Of course. It all adds up.
I knew you would respond. I thought there would be more. Perhaps if I had used Terrence Mann instead?
I heard he practiced/taught Mahayana Buddhism.
The more one cares, the less there is to say.
Is he survived by Franny and Zooey?
Wikipedia suggests that there are only dates of death for Seymour and Walter. Everyone else seems to live throughout all eternity. Even Les and Bessie.
Perhaps like David Bromberg and the lyrics to Mr Bojangles, Salinger spent some time doing awful things to his creations.
We can only hope.
Having heard Bromberg’s gorgeous, recorded-live version of Mr Bojangles, I concur. When Napster existed it was one of my most sought-after cuts. I think in the monologue he uses the word, “horrible,” rather than, “awful,” although the point is made either way.
I believe in retrospect that you are correct on both counts. And you, as a matter of fact, provided me with that cut some years ago; I’ve since purchased the album, but appreciated the kindness at the time.
I prefer this sweet thought than Raphael’s perverted thoughts.
Not to sidetrack here, but the song Mr. Bojangles was created by Jerry Jeff Walker, not David Bromberg. In his definitive live recording of the tune, Bromberg does indeed make reference to doing terrible things to the song, but it is in the context of talking about his time playing guitar for Jerry Jeff.

Tru dat, bro. Raphael and I were playing fast and loose by not mentioning that it was Bromberg’s version of Jerry Jeff Walker’s song. But he does say “horrible” and not “terrible.”
Back on track, I watched Field of Dreams last night in honor of the passing of Terrence Mann.
Threadjack!!
I won’t disagree with that, mostly because I still don’t have access to my Bromberg CD to listen my way through. I just knew that it wasn’t “awful”.
While normally I hate YouTube postings that are just original songs with no accompanying video, tonight I would have loved to find that one. No such luck. Might need to spend a buck to get it on MP3.
Oh, that turned out to be the idea of the day. Not only did I get to enjoy Bojangles on my Grado headphones almost instantly, but I also picked up and am now enjoying Bromberg’s other great “acoustic ballad with long talking section in the middle” recording, which is Dehlia.
“You can call out your rubber-tired taxis, your double-seated hacks. They took poor Dehlia to the graveyard, Will, and they failed to bring her back. She’s all I’ve got, is gone.”
I love how he cues Will Scarlett for his solo, and the solo Will then delivers.
his secret letters are opened

Considering that my first thought when I read the title was “Who?” I think it is fair to say I will not be missing him.
