Wife bought me Heelys for my 60th birthday!

You gotta love my wife. She was stumped for ideas for my upcoming 60th birthday and went out and bought a pair of www.heelys.com. You may have seen them in the mall with kids gliding on their shoes with embedded wheels.

She said the clerk was aghast that she was buying them for someone so old so she said, “Don’t worry, he rides a unicycle too”.

It took a while to get used to them but I’m starting to get the hang of it. I’m going to wear them to a Halloween party on the 25th (my actual birthday).

hahaa!!! that is so awesome
i have never seen anyone over about 20 wearing those

I used to have them, they are pretty cool. Don’t try any tricks on them though, just glide around, and in the winter, if you step in deep snow it gets packed in there and you can later take the ice out and throw it at people.

pat : how come you know your present for your birthday? isn’t that supposed to be secret until THE day? (isn’t your birthday later in the month?)
how about your knees?
how about some insane challenge for your 61th birthday? (or are you waiting until you turn 64 :stuck_out_tongue: -or 66? or 69?-)

Sixty is the new 40. I was watching a kid on Heelys on Monday night. I was thinking “I wonder if they make those in my size?” I also wondered if the mall security guard would give me grief if they saw me cruizing along on them like they do the kids. Sounds like fun. Go to the Mall and have at it. let us know the outcome.

Sweeet. I’ve always wanted a pair of those. I see kids gliding around on them and it looks like a ton of fun. I didn’t know they made 'em in adult sizes.

So if 60 is the new 40, then 50 ought be the new 30. $h!t. I feel younger already.

BTW; 11:30 is the new noon. I went to lunch the other day with a friend of mine and we figured we’d go at 11:30 to beat the lunch crowd at a popular chinese restaurant. When we got there the place was packed. And, with the way more and more people around here seem to be taking Fridays off work, we figure Thursday is the new Friday.:stuck_out_tongue:

Oh yeah, and $20 is the new $5.

I had been looking for heeleys for the past couple months, all that I could find were the cheaper rip-off’s “wheelies”. Oh well. Have fun on yours, and try the thing at the mall…

When I had them, I would let my dog assist me in going around the block on them.

Heelys

Just back from my daughter’s wedding in Nova Scotia.

I plan on wearing the Heelys at a Halloween Party on the 25th (my actual birthday). I’ve warned the partygoers that I’m coming in my “birthday suit” - a tan suit I bought at Goodwill for $2 and then covered in the inscriptions “October 25, 1946”, “10/25/46”, “25 Oct 46”, etc.

Birthdays and toys…

She threw me a fantastic surprise party two weeks early. About 70 of our ski club members showed up as the Blues Brothers and Blues Babes (I occasionally snowboard in a Blues Brothers outfit -see below). Note: the photos may be slow loading. Tinypic.com must be having server problems.

I had my third surgery on the right knee at the end of April and it feels better than it has in the past three years. Can’t wait for the racing season to start.

and this one appears in the current issue of SnowEast Magazine

What did the people that the ski resort think when you showed up in that tux to snowboard/ski?

Where in Nova Scotia were you? I’m living in Alberta now for a bit, but I am from Antigonish NS.

Antigonish

The wedding was just north of Antigonish in a place called Fairmont. It’s a beautiful part of the world and we’ll definitely go back.
