Export the movie as a non widescreen format. If the way you made it was waidescreen ,then on the publishing settings, change it to 4:3 or whatever, and it’ll add black bars to the top and bottom, preventing youtube from squishing it.

Here’s my vid like that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlO2rtU99JA

Hi Jon!

Man this is a Spencer video… He isn’t from this planet…!!! :astonished:

Just kidding… Spencer Rocks!

To upload your video in the same format that spencer posted, the letterbox (letterbox is the method with the black bars in the video), you need to configure your video editor to 4:3 viewport. Some editors automatically include the black bars… If your editor don’t put the bars, you need to put then like frames… Just align then and it’s ok to post…

(Remember: To have the best result on you tube, upload your video on MPEG4, 640X480 and in 30 frames per second!)

Google it… A lot of peoples have the same problem… Some google experts, said that You Tube will have an anamorphic mode soon!

You have other ways to resolve your problem like Pan and scam…and others… Just search over the net!

Post the video when you upload it!

I hope I have helped!

bye!

If you don’t mind me asking…

What video-editing program did you use to make that video? It looked really nice.

I just exported my movie in widescreen and when I uploaded it it automatically changed to letterbox.

hey guys i got it to work

heres the thread with the vid- http://www.unicyclist.com/forums/showthread.php?p=962941#post962941

Thanks!
I used Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0

Sorry for reviving this thread, didn’t want to start a new thread…

I see Youtube has now gone widescreen, and it looks like videos previously uploaded in 4:3 are simply converted to 16:9 with a black letterbox effect either side. So can you just upload 16:9 widescreen footage like normal and it will stay in widescreen? Is Youtube able to pick up on whether the footage is 16:9 or 4:3 and compress it accordingly or something? Or do you have to tick a box for which format it is?

Thanks in advance, just wondering for future (widescreen) videos.

I never had a problem with youtube squishing my widescreen videos.

I watched some of my widescreen videos that I uploaded over a year ago, and they still played with black all around them, instead of filling the whole box.

But a video that I uploaded just a week and half ago fills the entire thing.

So I would think that you can just upload a widescreen video normally and it will show up filling the whole box.
