i would opt any day for being in the cold rather than summer.
i really wanna just buy a house down in Colorado and another in Australia or NZ and move from place to place for where the snows at.
and after the entire season i started to make progress in the last month or less. I was landing 360’s clean, gonna move them to big air, gonna try and pull 540s off stuff, i saw a few videos last night of some awesome skiers and learned of tricks i didnt know existed. My big apiffany of skiing, and i dont even get to ski again til next year.
and no. unicycling is not a substitute for skiing. Guess this means summer training, come back next year bigger and better, and knock out more tricks.
I met a couple of New Zealanders in Norway a couple of years ago who did th opposite to this. They just go around the world chasing the sun and teaching kayaking.
Then you live in the right state! You just need more elevation to make the season last…
Nope. Good cross training though.
I think so, at the tippy tops of the mountains. But you probably meant to ski on. A bit of web searching should answer that. I’m pretty sure most places are still seasonal there, or else Aspenmike might not ride unicycles much…
C’mon, John, do you realize what you’re asking? Most of these kids can’t even search this forum, let alone the entire Internet. What next, you gonna recommend someone read a book?
Spring skiing is just starting to get good now. Too bad you can’t join us at the “Beach” at A-Basin. Party atmosphere and corn snow.
There are plenty of snow fields that stay filled in all summer. I usually ski into July and then let it go. Independence Pass is a good area, so is Rocky Mtn Nat’l Park and the Indian Peaks areas. There are 200 people who ski the July fourth bowl here in Breck on, you guessed it…July the 4th.
AspenMike may know TomSki from Aspen who regularly skis 350 days a year. (on ancient tele equip and wool knickers with patches on his patches) He hikes and skis most every day. I don’t think he ever rides the lifts. He’s been doing it 15 years or so.
Most of our Washington Cascade Mountain areas close mid-April, right after Spring Break and people lose interest even if there’s plenty of snow. People will wreck their skiis to get first snow in November or December then let all that good Spring snow go to waste.
Over the past several years Alpental has stayed open (at least on weekends) until Cinco de Mayo. So hopefully we’ll be on the slopes for another six or seven weeks.
Then it’s either Blackcomb Glacier or Mt. Hood/Timberline Palmer Show Field for summer skiing.
This hasn’t been as good of a snow year as the past few so keep those snow dances going.
Arapahoe Basin would be about it. They stay open into June usually. Most places will close after Easter.
Most jibbers will take some home-made rails to the snow fields in the summer.
They will Build some kickers there too. You wont find much of a pipe anywhere.
Spring Skiing is the time of year when it may be sunny, raining, or snowy on the slopes…wait a minute! This is the Pacific Northwest!! It’s like that in the winter too…I guess there isn’t much of a difference, except the chances of seeing shorts or bikini tops does increase as we get closer to closing day.
