I have downloaded many .avi files but to my surmise they don’t work, not on windows media player version 7.1 or on quicktime, they work fine on the comps at school, I feel quite ashamed to be asking this being the computer whiz I am, yes…whiz, but that would be great if all’yall computer guys could tell me the inside scoop, I started it here out of respect to Gilby, but if nobody respond I will have to move it to the “real” forum. thanks

Some of the AVIs are encoded in DivX format. To play them you’ll need to install the DivX codec. You can download DivX from <http://www.divx.com/> There is a free version of the codec and a pay version. The basic free version is good enough to be able to playback DivX encoded videos.
In my Monster.com commercial gallery I have three videos. Two of them are in DivX format and one is in a standard AVI format. Try them out. If the DivX flavor videos won’t play on your computer then you’ll need to install DivX. If the standard AVI won’t play on your computer then you’ve got other problems.
My Monster.com gallery is at

A) If you didn’t know what you were looking for, you would think it was just a guy on a bike.
