Yes, we are very concerned for Brad’s health. If you read my statement carefully, I eluded to the fact that Brad has been training hard (he is one of the top three middle distance runners in the school as a freshman) and considers the meet to be very important. However, if he can’t perform or if participation will cause problems, he won’t compete. That doesn’t lessen the importance of the meet though.

Better to sit out now than to place more participation down the road at risk. His illnesses are frustrating, and we fight them as best we can, but it’s really out of our control.

There are times, though, when lack of reason gets the best of us. Once for a soccer game, Brad had the flu. He’s a field player, but instead of letting his team down, he chose to play in goal with a trash can nearby. During halftime, he ran into the restroom, threw up, and came back to play the second half. In hindsight, it was probably not one of our better decisions.
