Who's going to see the Matrix 2?

I’ll see it (in due time, it’s not a ‘see it the first weekend it’s out’ like Star Wars)

But, I have to say that I am quite skeptical. The first Matrix as really awesome because of the ground breaking technology. But, as a frequent movie/TV watcher, I’m getting pretty sick of the slow motion jumps now.

Will part 2 contain groundbreaking technology this time around? If so, it’s gonna be fantastic. If not, it may just be an extension of the Matrix story, which in itself, isn’t too exciting.

The thing I liked about the first one wasn’t the ‘cool effects’ but how every single frame of the movie was filmed well. It certainly shows how well a movie can be filmed. Just the right background noises, just the right camera angle, etc… Sure the slow motion stuff was neat, but not any more neat at the end of the film than at the beginning

I’m going to see it thursday, i have a “dentist appointment” at one and i’m out of school… i’ll let you know what i thought when i get back.

Re: Who’s going to see the Matrix 2?

As such, I’m currently watching my favourite Eddie Murphy of all time. Classic Murchy, no, not Beverly Hills Cop…but Trading Places. Not only one of my favourite Eddie Murphy movies, but favourite movies of all time. It’ s on TV right now, and they have to censor so much stuff, it’s hardly recognizable. This has convinced me to buy the DVD version.

The vision that I can picture crystal clear and it sends shudders up my spine for some reason, it the scene where Dan Akroyd, dressed as Santa, pulls the ham out of his suit and eats eat, not carin that the material from his fake beard is on it. ewwww

The memory I can picture is pausing the scene where you can see Ophelia’s boobs in the apartment scene…trying to make them out throught he VCR squiggles. :o I was in grade 4, so it’s OK

I’m going to see it Thursday with a bunch of people from school. I don’t have super high expectations for it, but I can’t wait to see it anyway. Hopefully it will be more than them just cashing in on how popular the first movie was.

Ben

I agree with Ben. If you have super high expectations for the Matrix 2 or anything else, they probabaly will never be fulfilled. I’m just going to enjoy the bigger and better special effects and the excellent storyline.

they did throw a lot of money at the 2 sequels
and they’re coming out only 5 months apart, first time we’ll get two sequels in one year since back to the future 2&3 in 1989

the producers got sick of everybody copying the fx techniques they used in the original and set out to make it impossible to copy the techniques used in the sequels
fat chance, but i’ll buy them a beer for trying

i hope to get tickets to a preview on the 18th
yeah, this is the third world, we’ll be a couple of days behind

i’m going to have more fun than i’ve had, with my clothes on, for a long time
it is my decision to enjoy this movie and i wont let anything stand in my way

not even a crappy movie

no thanx

nad first one was confusing didn’t understnad what the hell was going on sorry i’ more of a LOTR fan…

My business partner scamed some tickets and went last night, said it was great. I will probably try for this weekend sometime. I have seen the original about 15 times maybe more. If it is on TV, I will get sucked in even though I own the DVD. I am trying to keep my expectations low, but I have to say I hope it is as good as the first.

It comes out properly over here on the 21st, not sure when the previews are though.

I may or may not go see this movie. I’ll certainly rent it.

The Onion has a bit on it which can be seen here:

(Note: There is some profanity.)

Could someone please explain the 3rd item to me? (I know what it means, but what does it have to do with the Matrix?)

Here is a review of Matrix 2 by Slate
The Matrix Reloaded: We waited four years for this?
Take it with a grain of salt, because it is after all by Slate.

ehh…

So yeah, i must say it was nice to get out of history to watch this movie. It wasen’t a bad movie, but it definetly wasn’t as good as the first one. i guess i just liked the orignal too much, it coulden’t be topped…

Re: ehh…

Please tell me Jar Jar Binks wasn’t slow motion jumping in this one!

Greetings,

I’m planing on viewing it but not until after it runs in the mainstream movies houses first. I’ll wait for it to arrive at our local pizza movie house, that way I can enjoy the benefits of a full sized movie screen and relax in a comfy chair with a beer!

The Bears Tooth is a great place. I can get beer on tap ‘in’ the theatre, so I don’t have to go to the lobby and miss any of the movie. Ahhh… movie, beer… it has a nice ring to it don’t you think?

:stuck_out_tongue:

Yes! Beer, pub food and a movie on a bigish screen are a great combination. Even better if it’s a double feature.

The Portland Oregon area has several McMenamins pubs that show movies.

When I was living in Portland I spent a lot of weekend evenings at the Mission Theater.

You just need to choose your movies carefully. Trying to eat while watching a movie with lots of blood and guts is not the best choice.

Believe it or not, I’ve never even seen the Matrix. I desperately want to, so then I can go see the sequel.

Don’t feel bad, i’ve passed around my old vhs copy to a bunch of my friends who haven’t seen it… although having said that it hit me that this is just a movie, not some elite underground cult… or is it…

If anyone is interested in what one might call an “egghead” review, The New Yorker has one:
