I just found out about this today, and frankly I think it is pretty rediculous that the guys who put up the led’s got in so much trouble, really all, if anything, they should be charged with is vandalism or littering, because really all they are doing is litering.
If you check out http://graffitiresearchlab.com/ they have more information on it, and similar things that have been done throughout the states. I’m a huge fan of graffiti myself and I like how they are finding out new ways of less destructive graffiti. The big dilema I have with it is how much it sucks for people to have to deal with it in the end, but sometimes it can be really beautiful so its a bit of a moral dilema.
Another thing that I don’t like is how quick people are to assume terrorism. Personaly if I saw something like that I would laugh and be like “WTF MATE!?!?” not “omg its sabotage!” (bonus points to whoever guesses the origins of those quotes). I think its pretty bad that officials there always assume the worst of people, what happened to people being nice and friendly and things being interesting and conundrums.
So what do people think about this?

I think this whole “post 911 world” is a bit rediculous. Nothing really changed. Shit happened, its over now. They are blowing it wayyy out of proportion, and they regularly do. I don’t think that 911 should be used as an excuse for being overly paranoid. Being cautious is one thing, but being paranoid is rediculous. It may be a fine line but they clearly crossed it here and many other places. The post 911 world is an excuse that is used wayyy to often.

Yeah people dying isn’t that nice, but seriously that happened a long time ago, and has been completely unrelated to almost all recent events. I agree, it sucked, and I agree that it is certainly good to increase security measures in certain areas but I really don’t think that this is a case where the security should have been increased.
I live in Boston and didn’t hear about it until until a few days later online. Frankly, it was all totally ridiculous, not only was the overreaction terrible, but the fact that they had already been up for over a week. I mean, New York had the mooninites as well and even them, after 9/11 didn’t freak out. All I know now is that I’m going to see the Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie. The mayor is now trying to make guerrilla marketing illegal, simply because he can’t own up to the fact that the city government overreacted and didn’t properly assess the situation.

Isn’t guerilla marketing already illegal in some ways. I mean the guys were littering, so thats already a crime. I don’t really see though how an entire form of marketing could be made illegal.
