Nirvana is alright, lots of their songs sound the same to me though.

Nah man, you don’t need to understand their words to understand what they’re saying…like Hendrix, he was hard to understand too. But when you do read their lyrics…they’re crazy amazing lyrics!!
It’s called a genre’. Generally used to classify music that sounds similar. The more you know.

…do Guns ‘N’ Roses and (old) Metallica sound the same? Most people would say both of those bands are hard rock, and they don’t that all that similar.
This is what I hear during part of Smells Like Teen Spirit:
Avalago, anglepano, umaskata, adabeedo, YEAH
And don’t forget the “Hrayanada” that he sings at the end over and over again.
He’s a genius.
they’ve got amazing lyrics and kurt’s got a unique voice but he mumbles in this drunk-drugs-induced slur all the time so that’s the problem.
That’s why I said read the lyrics, not listen to them…he’s saying
A mulatto, an albino, a mosquito, my libido, YEAH
And the word at the end is “a denial.” Besides, Smells Like Teen Spirit isn’t one of their best, they have way better ones…like Drain You, or Lithium, or Come As You Are, or You Know You’re Right.
Those are even worse than the made up words I thought he was saying.

Where did I say “All rock music sounds the same”?
I happen to listen to quite a few sub-genres of Metal, of which none of the music sounds the same.
I listen to Slayer, lots of people complain that “All their songs sound the same”, this is because all of their songs have a very similar playing style. In no way is the beat the same though.
I find in Nirvana, all the beats sound similar, or have very slight variation. I am disregarding tempo here of course.
I just listened to Nirvana’s Nevermind Album just to refresh my memory.
One of my top 2 favorite songs of all time.
the sheer emotion in that song is nearly overwhelming
